I am Quinn Norman Capes-Ivy. I’m your average twentysomething queer and transgender parent, radical feminist, mentalist, cripple, emotionally unstable, arrogant, self-absorbed, narcissist. I have one husband, two ex-fiancés and a kid not fathered by any of them. I have diagnoses coming out of my ears. Life is a constant battle between me and my hair. One day I’ll be rich and famous, but I don’t know what for yet. I drink altogether too much tea and smoke altogether too many cigarettes. I love body modification of all kinds. If I could be an animal, I’d be a rat. I have the world’s most awesome and inspiring family and friends. I like to sleep in of a morning. Trying to be the best damn person I can be.
You can find me on Twitter where I waffle about the minutiae of my life and occasionally talk politics. I have a public Twitter account for talking to people who don’t follow me, and the occasional political stuff that people want to be able to retweet.
This blog also has its very own Facebook page – if you follow it you’ll get updates of new posts here, plus interesting links and general awesomeness.
Places I write:
- I am the maintainer of and a writer for Parenting Against the Patriarchy, an awesome feminist parenting blog.
- I keep a private, personal blog at LiveJournal/Dreamwidth.
- I write (somewhat bad!) poetry and prose over at deviantART.
- I was, in June 2010, happy to be a guest blogger over at The F Word (link leads to my own posts there).
If you have something burningly important you’d like to tell me and you don’t think commenting on the blog will be sufficient, you can email me.

Hi Anji,
Great F Word piece on stripping the illusion, glad you enjoyed the day! don’t think you’re on our campaign mailing list email me at sandrine@object.org.uk if you’d like me to add you,
Best,
Sandrine
Is the title of this blog in anyway referring to Howard Stern and his fathers constant screaming “Shut Up! Sit Down!” during Sterns childhood?
MikeonTV – No, it wasn’t. But now I have to go and look that up.
Hey Anji,
Can I add you to my blogroll? Thanks.
Feel free Lara! You’ve just reminded me I was going to add you to mine.
Thanks
Hey, Anji!
Just to say that, due to an odd glitch that I couldn’t fix, Me and My Army has had to be moved, and I couldn’t keep the old URL. It’s now at feminist-army.blogspot.com. I’m currently looking up anyone who links to me so they don’t end up with broken links, it’s going to be a fun morning.
Also, I love reading your posts! I always enjoy feminist blogs that are written unapologetically (even if I don’t always agree with the views expressed), it’s something I find so hard to do at times. You’re inspirational!
Say No to FEMALE EXPLOITATION…
yeah…
hi Anji
thanks for linking to my post on veggie beauty… I’ve added you to my feed and look forward to getting to know your blog.
best

Hi there,
My name is Robyn Tinch and I am a photography and electronic media student at Gray’s School of Art, Robert Gordon University.
I am doing a documentary on body image and I was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me from your point of view. It would be greatly appreciated and useful to me.
Do you agree that female beauty is constructed for men, by me?
Do you think the pressure on females to be a certain way is greater than the pressure on males to look a certain way?
What do you think of airbrushing images in magazines?
What do you think the result of the ‘airbrushed’ image on women?
I would be extremely thankful if you took the time to answer these questions because it would be a brilliant help to me. I will leave my email address at the bottom.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Regards
Robyn Tinch

You sound interesting. Have you ever thought of becoming a Christian?
Um… no, I haven’t. My family are Christian and I was raised going to church and Sunday school but ultimately, it’s not something I believe in. I’m very happy in my own religion, thank you!
Ok–thanks for writing back, Anji.
